Asia Pacific Queer Film Festival Alliance Shorts

Queer Screen is proud to be a founding member of an alliance between seventeen queer film festivals throughout the Asia Pacific. To showcase the amazing queer films being made in this region the Alliance has put together a package of the best in new Asian cinema. At the end of each year a film is selected as the best Asia Pacific Queer short film. The 2016 winner was Indonesian film The Fox Exploits the Tiger's Might by Lucky Kuswandi. Any Other Day

Where are we to turn when the ones sworn to protect us are the ones against whom we must be protected? It was just another day for Kabir and Arnav. But their lives take a turn for the worse when two cops decide to make a spectacle of them. The Threshold
Directed by Nishant Roy Bombarde | India | 30 minutes
An adolescent Pankaj is discovering his sexuality. Torn between a patriarchal Indian upbringing full of gender-stereotypes and his natural urge to identify with the opposite gender, he finds an opportunity to express his desires within the bounds of cultural ethos.
