France 1971, Delphine lives a hard working life on her parents' farm in Limousin. Striving for independence and something more, she packs a suitcase and heads to Paris. A chance encounter on the street with Carole, sees her quickly join a group of feminists as they battle the patriarchy during the dawn of feminist activism in 1970s Paris. Enthralled by the charismatic Carole, the chemistry between the pair is palpable as Delphine is surprised to discover that Carole has a live in boyfriend, Manuel. Undeterred she takes a chance that changes the course of both of their lives forever.
When a family emergency sends Delphine back to her parent’s farm, Carole must decide whether to stay in Paris or to follow Delphine to a life and culture she knows little about.
Summertime (La Belle Saison) is a luminous film from veteran French Director Catherine Corsini (Replay, Three Worlds); with stellar performances from Izïa Higelin as Delphine and Belgian star Cécile de France (High Tension, Spanish Apartment Trilogy) as Carole. Together they bring this passionate and moving story to life.
