When a young gay man is left in a coma after a LGBTIQ+ film screening in Bucharest, a daring TV reporter investigates why the police failed to intervene.
Inspired by real events, 5 Minutes Too Late opens with the Romanian military police being called out to a disturbance at a cinema. A screening of a LGBTIQ+ film has been interrupted by protestors and a cinemagoer is injured. After organisers accuse authorities of standing by, a tenacious journalist, Liliana, senses a big story. But is it the story that her commercially-minded boss wants to hear? Meanwhile, the experienced police captain, Nicu, insists the victim was already injured. A matter of minutes made no difference.
Dan Chisu's incisive depiction of homophobia in powerful institutions carefully weaves the interlocking stories into an emotional whole.

"Entertaining, with a solid, tense tempo and building up to an emotionally wrenching ending... earnestly, refreshingly direct in its condemnation of homophobia and the troubling dealings of a commercial, ratings-driven press." — Romania Insider
