Chedeng and Apple
Bristling with charm and irreverent humour, Chedeng and Apple is a Filipino Thelma and Louise style comedy.
When Chedeng’s (Gloria Diaz) ailing husband passes away, she makes the unexpected announcement to her family that she is a lesbian. Her best friend Apple (Elizabeth Oropesa) has been suffering at the hands of her abusive husband for far too long, and finally snaps, relieving her abusive husband of his head.
And so begins this bawdy, hilarious and touching road movie. Chedeng and Apple hit the road searching for Lydia, Chedeng’s long-lost love, with the cops on their tail, hiding a somewhat gruesome souvenir in their Louis Vuitton hand luggage.
Former beauty queens Oropesa and Diaz (Miss Luzon 1972 and Miss Universe 1969 respectively) have an insatiable chemistry which will have you rooting for them all the way from Manila to Cebu as they embark on a journey of reawakening.
"Chedeng and Apple is a funny and refreshing film about women living for themselves and rediscovering the importance of their friendship. Come for the salty widows, stay for them tricking the cops." - Ms En Scene
Warning: A brief scene of domestic violence.
