Nine films are in the running for prizes in My Queer Career, Australia’s biggest queer short film prize!

Dances is a collection of true experiences on dating apps from the queer community, explored through dance and animation, Thomas Banks' Quest for Love follows a young, gay playwright with cerebral palsy who is on a quest to find true love; Butch (winner of the inaugural Queer Screen Pitch Off) is a cheeky comedy about Butch the dog, who will go to any lengths to reunite his feuding owners.

In Black Lips, a lonely Chinese man travels to remote coastal Australia and discovers himself; Sereena refuses to justify who she is and turns it back onto us, asking "What Do You See?"; Cherry Season follows two sisters in Young, NSW in a chilling look at the traps of social media; Shepherd follows Darcy on a drunken night out where he finds himself pressured to be the very type of man he despises.

Dani Boi is a 'dragtivist' with a mission to fight back against oppressive gender norms; in Staying the Night, Jake sneaks in his boyfriend Max while his single mum is out for the night. Things take a turn when Max tries to sneak back out.

Trigger warning: Homophobic violence
