Walking with Shadows portrays the impossible weight of living in the closet and the terrifying freedom of being out.

In the conservative nation of Nigeria, Adrian Njoko has created a life that fits the expectations of society and his family. However, it all comes crashing down when his sexuality and past is exposed to his loved ones.

This film is based on Jude Dibia’s 2005 novel of the same name, the first Nigerian novel cited to “humanise” a gay character. The empathy that permeates the novel is rich within this film. Ozzy Agu brings an aching yearning to the role of Adrian as he struggles to find the right thing to do for himself and his family.

Walking with Shadows explores the damage done by being forced to hide your true self and the strength it takes to move forward.
