You, Me and Him
Daisy Aitken's directorial debut is a breezy British comedy-drama with a bittersweet edge, featuring some hilarious performances by a stellar cast.
High-flying barrister Olivia (Lucy Punch) is approaching forty and desperate to be a mum. Her freewheeling, pot smoking younger girlfriend Alex (Faye Marsay) definitely isn’t ready. When Olivia announces that she’s started IVF without consulting Alex, the latter responds by getting drunk and sleeping with their wannabe Casanova neighbour, John (David Tennant), at his divorce party. Oh, snap! Now they’re both pregnant.
After breaking up and reuniting everything seems to be back on track for Olivia and Alex, until John announces – much to the women's horror – that he wants to be the “daddy” for real. While Alex takes to pregnancy like a duck to water and John reveals hidden depths, Olivia is miserable being pregnant. And no amount of guidance from their hypno-birthing pregnancy guru is going to help.
