Fresh, groundbreaking and charming, this Canadian web series follows two Indigenous queer women with vastly different backgrounds as they find one another and connect in the big city. Daka (Kaitlyn Yott) had a traditional, straight upbringing, dancing on the rez for her whole life. Meanwhile, in Vancouver, Abe (director Mary Galloway) maintains a life as a struggling musician with few ties to her Indigenous heritage. Until Daka leaves her life behind her and through fate and an interfering housemate, the two women meet and hit it off.

In true lesbian fashion, Daka and Abe move in together very quickly, forcing them to confront their similar intersectional identities with vastly different approaches. Querencia is a romance, a coming-of-age and a slice-of-life, but most importantly, it’s a story that has rarely been seen on screen before.
